Big day

This morning we left the house around 6:30 am and headed to the hospital for Ainsley's tube surgery and other tests!  We of course made a quick stop for a diet coke along the way--it was early!
A in the elevator!  She thinks elevators are magical!
Her baby came along today-Ainsley was changing her baby's diaper here!
Getting ready--in her hospital gown...which Ainsley called a dress!

A little drafty!
Trying to escape!

They let A take her baby and her blanket in the operating room.

The offered to give A some calming meds as they took her back to surgery, but we opted not to get them because she does so well with new people.  She let the doctor carry her back to surgery no problem--she waved to us and she was off for her 3rd tube surgery around 8:10 am.
After the tube surgery, they did the ABR (auditory brain response)--hearing test in the OR.  They kept her sedated and got a full read on her.  This took about 30-45 minutes.  We were SO happy with the results.  Her hearing has stayed the same since last year.  Normal to slight loss in L ear--not enough loss to warrant a hearing aid and her R ear has the mild loss--so we will keep the hearing aid.  Around 9:30 am they told us the peds sedation team had picked her up from the OR and took her for her brain MRI (we are hoping to get these results later this week).  They had to coordinate meds and the pass off of care--and it all went so smooth!  They came to get Ryan and I at 10:30 am and let us see Ainsley in the recovery area.  When they turned off the sedation she woke up SO quickly.  She was not too happy!  She didn't like her IV being in and wanted her hospital bracelet off asap--so they had to wrap that with pink gauze.
She was pretty loopy and thirsty.  We started with apple juice.
The nurse brought A two popsicles and she promptly ate both of them!  They were so good to let A recover slowly--we didn't end up leaving the hospital until 12:15 pm.

In the car--her personality started to emerge again--so we decided to go to lunch so she could eat before her nap!

They put a hospital bracelet on her baby--how cute is that!
We took A to Red Lobster because she loves their biscuits and we learned today she also loves their key lime pie!  As soon as we got her home this afternoon, she was fast asleep.  We were so proud of her today--she shook every doctor's hand that she met today!
We've had quite the day as a family--our heater broke on our 2 year old house (again) today and the heating company won't have the part to fix it until tomorrow so we spent the evening hunting a space heater so we are having a slumber party in our room with A tonight so we stay warm and can keep an eye on her to make sure she is doing well throughout the night.  Never a dull moment around here!
