Peace

As new parents we get lots of advice from friends and family about how to take care of our little one.  With all of the advice that Ryan and I got before we had Ainsley, we never were prepared for the worry that comes along with parenthood.
We are constantly questioning ourselves…are we doing things right?  Does Ainsley have what she needs?  Are we spoiling her?
We were worried recently that she was not acting like herself--loosing weight, not able to fall asleep...we asked for her endro doctor to repeat a blood test they had done a month before to check her throyid levels.  We got the results back this week and her numbers were on the high side so they are now giving her a new dose to see if that helps lower her levels.
Based on all of the reading we've been doing, Ainsley's symptoms were not matching up with the blood test results so we asked her meet with Ainsley's regular doctor to get her opinion.  We met with her today and she took a holistic approach to Ainsley's symptoms.  She worked us into her very busy schedule this morning at 7:45 am and spent a good 30 minutes with us.  She discovered that Ainsley had not been gaining weight since her July appointment.  She wants us to increase Ainsley's calories and milk intake for a month and then re-evaluate on January 5th with a complete blood workup in case she continues to loose weight.
We are both trying really hard not to over think these new challenges and just be thankful that Ainsley's doctor is on the case and will be consulting with her endro doctor to figure this out.  In the mean time, we took Ainsley to Texas Road House to feed her hot rolls with butter (butter was specifically mentioned by the doctor today as a necessary addition to any bread Ainsley is eating!).  What a dream diet!
Since Ainsley is having a hard time falling asleep these days, we've made it a tradition on some nights to get hot chocolate (for me and Ryan) and drive around and look at Christmas lights until Ainsley falls asleep.  This is a picture of us tonight--Ainsley is WIDE awake and I'm looking a bit on the tired side :)!  Tonight, she was asleep before 9 pm.  That was a small victory tonight!

We love our little girl more than life itself and are so grateful to God he chose us as her parents.  We are also thankful that we serve a God who cares about our worries and concerns and gives us peace to endure life's challenges.

"God will keep in perfect peace all who trust in God, whose thoughts are fixed on Him." -Isa. 26:3.
