Jumping for Joy

Friday night I slept maybe 2 hours.  I couldn’t stop thinking of my dad’s open-heart surgery.  Vicki called me at 7:30 am on Saturday and said they had taken dad in for surgery and that it could take 3-5 hours.
I went into work to stay busy and Ryan took Ainsley to a b-day party.  I couldn’t help watching the clock.
At 11:30 am Vicki called me and said that they put dad on the bypass machine.  I was SO worried.  It seemed like it was taking forever.
She called again 1:50 pm and said the valve was in and that he did well, but the doctor would give her a full report in an hour or so.
A little after 3 pm she called with the good news—dad had survived and was doing well!

My sister called me around 9:30 pm and said dad was off of the ventilator and that he was eating ice chips.
I called this morning to check on him at 6:30 am and they let me talk with him.  I could hear his voice in the background and teared up.  For some reason, I was so worried we were going to lose him yesterday.

But by the grace of God, he is here!  Alive and doing well!  He couldn’t talk long today as he had may doctors/nurses coming in an out of his room—but we are so grateful!
I wrote this quote in a card that I gave my dad on Thursday—“when fear knocks, let faith answer”.  I am so proud of him, he did.
He was at peace with this surgery on Friday and Vicki said he had such a positive outlook saying it was in God’s hands.  Glad he is going to be with us for many years to come!

“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!  Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let our heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”  -Psalm 27:13-14
