Good Day

Today was a good day!  Yesterday at dinner I noticed Ainsley didn't have her hearing aid in...Ryan and I both said to each other "did you add the hearing aid to our insurance policy"?  We both said "no".  UGH--we realized this would be an out of pocket $1900.  We searched the house that night and Ryan looked at daycare this morning--nothing....but today when we picked her up from school her teachers had found it!  Amazing!!  We were so thrilled!  And--we are going to get a rider on our home owners policy tomorrow--I promise!
We also had Ainsley's 3 month review before she turns 3 with her speech and hearing teacher, daycare director and case coordinator.  We are SO lucky to have such a great group of women pulling for Ainsley.  They all shared they thought it was best if we move forward with Ainsley having an IEP when she turns 3 and starting preschool with the local school district.  We were SO happy because we know Ainsley needs this for her speech support.
We have some work to do over the next few months because although this is the recommendation of the team it is not a guarantee.  Ainsley has to be evaluated by folks from the school district--but we are thankful we have a good team in her corner.  Ainsley's daycare director, Cathy, shared that she will support Ainsley with whatever she needs and will help us with the transition which may come very quickly.  They prepared us for the fact that the final decision may not come until early October and her birthday is on October 9th--so we may have just a week before the transition!  This is hard for me as a planner--but I we'll take it one step at a time.
If all goes well and Ainsley is a go for school district preschool we may have some options for which school she will go to, but it will all be dependent on where there are openings.  With budget cuts, preschool is now a half day so we'll have to work through care for the other half of the day.  Lots to figure out, but we will have to wait for things to progress before we work out the nitty gritty.
All in all, it was a GREAT day for the Cohenours! Knowing we found the hearing aid and that Ains may be getting more support this fall with her speech.
For the past two nights we have played outside in the sprinkler--Ainsley LOVES water!
Our sweet pea!
